MCSO Deputy Mike Lucas to visit WRER on Jan 15, 5:00pm Clubhouse. All Welcome!
Thank you for your email in reference to the upcoming meeting to be held on January 15th at 5:00 pm.
I spoke recently with Deputy Glenn about the reports that he had taken in reference to the recent activity in Will Rogers. I also read the reports that were written by other Deputies who had responded to the area to different complaints and conclude that most of the thefts could have been prevented by the individual victims.
A couple of brief pro-active recommendations that I would suggest at this time are;
ATV's and similar recreational vehicles should be secured in a garage and the doors locked. If the garage is not an option, then disable the ignition system and secure them in a controlled area such as chaining them in the back yard. Always remove ignition keys.
Victims often let their cars or trucks idle in the driveway with the doors unlocked or swung open. Do not do this because this gives a person the opportunity to steal the vehicle. I have personally removed the keys from unattended running vehicles in Will Rogers and other neighborhoods where I sat for a lengthy period before the owner returned to the vehicle. It takes a thief just a few seconds to steal a vehicle that may not have a key, and immediately if the key is left in the vehicle.
It is highly advised that homeowners secure their vehicles in their locked garages and keep laptops, cell phones and other items of value out of sight if left in the vehicle. Lock the items in the trunk if you must keep property in the vehicle even inside a garage. Never leave a purse or wallet or other document carrier in a vehicle. Theft of these items are high on the list because of credit cards, driver license and other documents that are easy devices enabling Identity Theft, Fraud and other crimes.
In closing, I look forward to your community meeting on the 15th and will be happy to address your neighborhood concerns.
Mike Lucas, Liason Deputy 590

To All,
We just want to give everyone a heads-up that yet another theft has happened. Our SUV was broken into this evening between 5-6 while it was sitting in our driveway! Nothing that can't be replaced but I still can't believe this is happening in our nice quite neighborhood.

The WRER website has been moved to another host. All home owners should now be able to access the website.
The WRER website has implemented two (2) mailing lists. A mailing list is a list in which a person subscribes with their email address and all emails to the mailing list are reflected back to all subscribers.
The first mailing list is the announce mailing list. This can be used to make announcements to all subscribers. This is especially useful for Rossmar, the Board, Event Committee, etc.
To subscribe to the announce mailing list, either visit this web page http://wrer.org/mailman/listinfo/announce_wrer.org or send an empty email to announce-subscribe@wrer.org.
The second mailing list is the discuss mailing list. This can be used for continued discussion on any desired topic for all subscribers. For example, if neighbors wanted to discuss a posted announcement, this is the ideal place.
To subscribe to the discuss mailing list, either visit this web page http://wrer.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss_wrer.org or send an empty email to discuss-subscribe@wrer.org.
You may also visit the Restricted area of the web site http://wrer.org/restricted/ to subscribe. Email me at connet@wrer.org for the username and password. This section is for home owners only, so no one outside of our community has access to this section or the mailing lists.
Have no idea what I'm talking about? Start here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_mailing_list.

WRER Homeowners:
The Board of Directors would like you to know that SRP, the Town Of QC and
Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church are working together on a project to
create a driveway from the Church leading out on to 205th St. The
driveway will be located between Ocotillo and Appaloosa.
Andy Fritz attended a meeting with the Town who explained although WRER
maintains the property - the Town has the right of way. Andy advised
there are several things happening with the improvement on Ocotillo that is
forcing the Church to close their driveway leading out to Ocotillo leaving
them with only one entrance/exit. The town is going to include an
entrance/exit from the bypass. This should reduce some of the traffic.
I did speak to a representative of the Town who tells me that SRP (who is
leading this project) will repair / replace anything damaged by them to
ensure our landscaping system is not compromised. I have passed this
information on to MMM Landscaping who will meet with the contractor before
any work is started to ensure the Associations needs are met and the
irrigation system put back in to working order.
This project should begin in the next week or so. You can use 205th during
this time to enter/exit the subdivision. Just be cautious of the
workers

Hi Everyone in Will Rogers- seeing that we live here ourselves, I was
wondering if anyone or a couple people might be able to help us
out. We are Kim and Matt at 20404 E Appaloosa. As many of you know my
husband is a police officer and works crazy hours. No two days are the
same. I am going to be starting Pima Medical Institute for Radiography
in January. Our son Brycen who is 3 years old is enrolled in the
Little Coyote program through the school district 3 days a week. My
schooling is from 8-12 everyday. Our problem is that Matt usually is
home in the morning, but sometimes has court hearings on recent arrest
that he has made. I was hoping to find a few people here that would be
willing to either get Brycen on or off the bus in case Matt does have
court. If you think that you might be of assistance whether being a
stay at home mom or retired- please call us. Brycen is a very easy
going child and very outgoing. (We would love to have a grandma figure
for him.) Pay will be good seeing that we are hoping to find someone
right in here, so that he doesn't have to miss school. (480) 677- 2525
Thanks so much for reading,

Thank you to all who came and helped on the workday. I feel it was a huge success with 16 people that showed up to help. 7am came early but with lots of enthusiasm and hard work we finished bringing up the stalls dirt level in D barn and did 5 stalls in C barn. Rock was also distributed in the aisles of A and B barn. B had been started to be raked in the morning and with the help of a few B drizzlers the barn was finished off with more rakes and the hose around 3:30. A barn was also raked this morning. Thank you. We still need to do the same to C and D. All the round pens, with exception of the isolation round pen, have new sand and has been spread. Isolation one has sand but still needs distribution. Again thank you and don't forget the next barn meeting May 17th at 7pm.

The 2nd Annual WRER Cinco De Mayo party was a huge success. There were over 21 WRER families in attendance with many of you inviting your family and friends. There was an estimate of 100+ people enjoying the evening. You couldn't have picked a better night, the weather was perfect, the band S.T.A.R.R. took requests and treated us all to some great music. Don't forget the line up of over 20 kids to get the chance to break the Sponge Bob Square Pants Pinata! The evening winded down with folks gathered around the bonfire. A special thanks to those who came forward to help clean up at the end of the night. The social events committee THANKS YOU!
Just a reminder there are no events over the summer. The social activities will start back up in August with a water playdate and ice cream social. The committee is always looking for new ideas and of course volunteers. If you would like to get more involved in our community we'd love to have you. Its not a big committment.....and of course its LOTS OF FUN! Please contact melanicaron@cox.net or Carol Prellberg at carozona@aol.com for more information.
Have a safe summer and don't forget to keep updated on neighborhood news at www.wrer.org

Hello Everyone,
Just a reminder about the workday this coming Saturday. We will begin at 7am. D Barn please have your horse put in a turn out or another stall back in D barn. There will two tractors working. One will be removing manure and a layer of soiled dirt. We are not digging deep. The other will then come in and a fill with dirt and compact. If you have mats go ahead and put them back in. Then you could put back some shavings. If this goes quickly I would like to do some stalls in C Barn. This all depends on the volunteers that show up. Also there will be rock delivered at the end of every barn for the aisles. This will also need to be spread out. Please if you have shovels and wheel barrels bring them.
If I have forgotten anything please let me know. Thanks for your cooperation.
Sabrina
Question......Does anyone out there know how to operate a tractor or bobcat?

Dear Home owners,
The community clubhouse parking lot is scheduled to be repaired and
seal coated per our 2007 reserve study. The asphalt area to be worked
on extends from the street entrance on Colt - moving west towards the
clubhouse parking lot. The work will take (2) days to finish.
Schedule:
Mon May 21 - if you need your horse trailer / RV / boat / flat bed for
the next few days you must take them out today
Tues May 22 - no vehicle traffic in / out of barn area / clubhouse
parking lot. work to begin on repair and seal coating
Wed May 23 - traffic can come in/out of the barn - but no parking in
clubhouse parking lot - stripes will be painted on this day
Barricades will be set up on Colt to prohibit traffic from coming in /
out of the parking area. If you bypass the barricades for any reason,
you will be responsible for any damage incurred plus any towing fees
if you should leave your vehicle there overnight in the smaller
parking lot.
This goes without saying that horses can not walk across the asphalt
either. If your horse needs to leave please remove your horse prior
to Tues May 22. Please also schedule your ferrier / vet around these
dates as well.
The total cost for this project is $1901 and will be deducted from the
associations reserve account.
If you have any questions or concerns please direct them to me.
Thank you,

An announcement from the law firm that represents our Home Owners Association:
E K M A R K & E K M A R K, L.L.C.
ATTORNEYS AT LAW
On April 16, 2007, the Governor signed HB 2503. This new law will become effective 90 days after the current legislative session ends. This law applies only to planned communities.
Under the new law, an association may not prohibit children who reside in the community from engaging in recreational activity on residential roadways under the jurisdiction of the association and on which the posted speed limit is 25 miles per hour or less. This law overrides any contrary provision in the association's documents.
The new law also requires an association to allow the use of cautionary signs regarding children. The sign must meet five requirements, however. First, the sign must be displayed in a residential area. Second, the sign must be removed within one hour after the children have stopped playing. Third, the sign must be displayed only when children are actually present and within 50 feet of the sign. Fourth, the sign must not be taller than three feet. And finally, the sign must be professionally manufactured or produced.

To ensure the health and welfare of all who live in our community, it is requested that pet owners please clean up after their dogs. We are happy to see that most pet owners do just that. They show respect for others who bike/walk around the neighborhood by carrying a disposable plastic bag to recover debris left by their pets. There are only a few who have not complied. If each of us does our share, this will be a beautifully clean place to play, exercise, and live.

Dear Homeowners,
In the next few days, work will begin on painting the outside of our community clubhouse. The work entails pulling all the vines down off the north side of the building, painting the entire outside of the building, the underside of the roof on the patio, the pillars on the patio, the trim, the wrought iron fence leading into the pool and the gazebo in the pool area. Also in the upcoming weeks the parking lot will get a new makeover. That work will include clean parking lot free of debris, seal all cracks, seal coat, re-stripe and paint thehandicap parking space.
This work is being paid for out of our homeowners association reserve account. Each month, part of your $78.00/mo HOA payment goes into the reserve account. The reserve account is money set aside to pay for capital projects in the neighborhood. These are the only 2 projects currently scheduled to be done in 2007.
Please feel free to contact me at melanicaron@cox.net if you have any questions.
Thank you,

WRER Home owners,
At the April Home Owners Association meeting, it was discussed and voted on to place a soda/water vending machine outside of the community clubhouse.
The perks are:
- There is no rental fee to have the machine on our property
- No contract/no liability to WRER HOA (if it doesn't work, we cancel with a 30 day notice)
- Cost per can is $1.00. Thirty cents (.30) of every can sold will go into the home owners association account. The income will be tracked on the financials as "soda machine rental".
- It will be maintained and serviced by JES Vending in Mesa
If, at anytime, the machine "eats your money" please place a taped note on the machine. Please put your name, address and phone number on the note. This is very important if you want to be reimbursed.

Thanks to all the horse owners who showed up to our meeting last week. The meeting went well and we have picked out a date for our next work day. This day will be May 5th but not sure on the time. The one and only project will be to bring up the dirt level in the stalls. This will be done to help keep the cost of shavings down. We will be renting a bob cat along with the tractor we do have and get this done. Please, horse owner or not, this would be a time for us to come together as a community and clean up the equestrian area for we all have a vested interest.
Horse owners please feel free to write me back with any suggestions at Sabrinayp@yahoo.com

The Easter Bunny (aka Gerry Lissner) came to WRER a day early at our Easter Parade and Egg Hunt. The children rode through the neighborhood on their decorated "wheels", including first prize winner Madelyn Allen, second prize winner Tatum Sterkel, and third prize winner Maggie Johnson. There was even an extra special float with Alex and Colton Gibbs and their family. Champion egg hunters included:
4 years old and under - Austin Miller, Iris Adam (the Lissners' grandaughter), and Mason McClure
5 - 9 years old - Jonathan Villegas, Katie Glassford
10 years old and up - Nick Glassford, Joey Palomarez
Rudy Villegas provided a special treat when he and his dog Blanco demonstrated some of the skills Blanco uses as a certified canine visitor to nursing homes.
Thank you to all who helped make this another successful WRER neighborhood event!

A little (or a lot) of rain doesn't stop the fun at WRER! In spite of a soggy arena, more than 80 adults and children enjoyed a day of games and fun at "Horsin' Around." While the horse games were tweaked a little to allow for the muddy conditions, there were still lots of ribbons and prizes awarded. And that was one smart chicken who ran out of the round pen and avoided being caught by some enthusiastic children!
Many thanks go to event coordinator Sandy Lissner, and those who helped, including Diane Villegas, Geri Couchman, Karen Howatt, Marilyn Allen, Diane George, Donna Brennan, Melani Caron, and Sabrina Palomarez. Thank you, also, to everyone who helped set up and clean up, and to everyone who contributed baked goods. Great job, Sandy!!!

LOST DOG!
A neighbor found the sweetest male dog roaming around the front of our houses near the NEC corner of Appaloosa and 203rd last night (Thursday). She knocked on our door to see if he was ours and unfortunately he wasn't, but took interest due to his incredible disposition. He seems fairly young (not a puppy), faded dark blue collar, tan/brown, amber eyes, spotted tongue, maybe lab/pit bull or mastiff mix (sorry, not good with dog breeds) and about 110+/- lbs. Please contact me if he is yours or have any leads.

Our clubhouse is an awesome amenity that we all share. There has been a wedding, Cinco De Mayo party, birthday parties, pig roast, baby showers, bunco, 4-H, prayer groups etc. Many times though our clubhouse sits empty. The Board has been approached several times from outside organizations who would like to rent our clubhouse. In previous times those request have been denied. Most recently the Board has decided to re-evaluate the topic. The Board has agreed to rent out the facility with a few rules:
1. WRER residents receive 1st priority
2. The organization must have a Certificate of Insurance (covers damage to the clubhouse and covers them if someone gets hurt)
3. Rental fee is: $25/hr
4. No weekends during high peak months
5. All dates / times will be reviewed b/4 approved
6. All rules (cleaning clubhouse etc) must be followed
7. Rental is for Clubhouse only (not for the pool)
So far we've rented out to (2) organizations. The 1st customer to book the clubhouse has been the Orchard Ranchettes HOA. They have had their neighborhood Board meetings at the clubhouse twice now. The WRER HOA has earned $150 in rental income from this neighborhood.
Our current rental is Laura Jasper (resident) who is currently holding Yoga classes in the clubhouse.
Each application to rent our facility will be on a case by case basis and will be Board approved. Since a Certificate of Insurance is required our facility will not be rented out for your friends personal usage. The idea is to have space availalbe for business purpose only.
Again, no WRER resident will be turned away from using the clubhouse because it was rented to an outside organization. The residents always has priority. Please continue to check the website for clubhouse bookings/availability.

I have appointed 3 homeowners to be on the HOA Finance Committee. All three have vested an interest in sitting down with me once a month to review our income/expenditures. They will not be privy to the confidential home owner account balances etc ... but will see the day to day activities for the HOA and stable accounts.
